Meet the face
behind the posts

Hey, my name is Elise Parks. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where I am an active member of organizations such as the National Honors Society and Future Business Leaders of America. I've currently graduated High School (c/o '22) at the top 10% of my class and plan to further my education at Georgia State University majoring in Computer Science. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and music. I also have many side interests, such as doing hair, making jewelry, and running my candied fruit business (@craxkedfruits). In all, I'm a woman of many talents and hope to share my most cherished one with you, writing.

The Black Files

The Black Files is a black-owned blog providing people with a safe space to be and feel heard.

Created amidst the unprecedented times of the global pandemic and social unrest in 2020. I felt inspired to speak up. While only being 16, I felt as if my voice meant nothing, and even so, I had no idea how to make my voice count, but one thing I did know was how to navigate social media. With that, I started posting links providing information and gofundmes of the many people and families faced with injustices. I even started up a black history month thread where I highlight those you never see in history books. However, I felt like that wasn't enough. Over the past year, I have been coming up with a way to create a space where not only I can be heard but so many others as well. Growing up, I didn't always have that and thought it essential that others do.
